Ready for Tax Time?
Whether you use a registered tax agent or lodge your own tax return, the ATO has a few tips to help you get ready for tax time 2018.

Here are some tips to help get you ready to lodge your tax return:

Gather and sort your business records now, including cash, online, EFTPOS, bank statements, credit or debit card transactions covering sales and other business income, and expenses you can claim as a business deduction such as staff wages, contractor expenses, operating expenses and business travel expenses

If you changed your record keeping software during the year, check all your information has transferred over correctly

Tax planning is legitimate when you do it within the letter and the spirit of the law. However, a small percentage of taxpayers plan their tax affairs in a manner we consider is aggressive towards the tax system. These arrangements attract our scrutiny to determine whether or not they are within the law.
